Depuis 20 ans, Greg Arnold (Australie) et Toby May (Genève, UK) ont tous deux sillonné le monde sur les routes des songwriters. 

 

D’une certaine façon, c’est un peu surprenant qu’ils ne se soient trouvés que l’année dernière. Greg a tourné en Amérique du Nord, en Europe et en Australie, en tant qu’artiste solo ainsi qu’avec son groupe habitué des top-charts folk-rock « Things of Stone and Wood ». Toby a tourné en Amérique du Nord, en Europe et au Japon en tant qu’artiste solo. Ils ont réussi à ne pas se croiser pendant vingt ans pour finalement se rencontrer lors d’un concert à Genève. Ils se sont immédiatement rendus compte qu’ils partageaient le même langage et les mêmes expériences : celles des troubadours du nouveau millénaire.

 

Alors ils ont fait ce que cette espèce fait de mieux… ils ont jammé, mec.

 

Et de cette jam est né un groupe, un « super groupe ». Deux musiciens se lançant des chansons l’un à l’autre: trois actes en un. Profitant de leur catalogue de succès ainsi que des nouveaux titres en utilisant leurs compétences multi-instrumentales partagées (sans compter la maîtrise du looper de Toby, « groupe dans la boîte »), ils génèrent un son beaucoup plus large que la somme des deux parties.

For twenty years Greg Arnold (Australia) and Toby May (Geneva/UK) have both been travelling the world's singer-songwriter highway. In some ways, it's a little strange they only met so recently. Greg has toured North America, Europe and Australia, as a solo artist and with his chart topping folk-rock band Things of Stone and Wood. Toby has toured North America, Europe and Japan as a solo artist. Having somehow avoided each other for twenty years, when they did finally meet at a gig in Geneva the two instantly recognised that they shared the same language and experiences of new-millennium troubadours. So they did what such people do best ... they had a jam, man. And from that jam came a supergroup group of sorts - two people throwing songs at each other - three acts in one. Plumbing their successful back catalogues and brand new songs and utilising their shared multi-instrumental skills (and Toby's mastery of a band-in-a-box looper) they conjure a sound much larger than the sum of the parts.
